Experimental journal of distorted typography
The journal is a record of a series of typographic experiments that I have made in order to answer two questions: ‘to what extent can I distort a typeface before it is un-readable’? and ‘are there grounds for a distorted typeface classification’? The result is a mix of experiments that feature mechanical processes set against organic ones.
I have produced experiments that have been created through splashing paint against a stencil, digital experiments to imply motion, screen printing to create further distortions and included a user activity section where an overlaying piece of plastic with distorted typographic features allowed the user to distort the type themselves to test the limits of readability.
